Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan’s bustling capital, is a vibrant metropolis where tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. The city offers everything from futuristic skyscrapers and neon-lit districts to serene temples and historic neighborhoods. Shibuya and Shinjuku pulse with energy, featuring world-famous landmarks like the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and bustling entertainment hubs, while districts like Asakusa preserve Tokyo’s cultural roots with Senso-ji Temple, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple. Akihabara is a paradise for tech enthusiasts and anime fans, while Harajuku and Omotesando showcase cutting-edge fashion and design. Tokyo’s green spaces, such as Ueno Park and the Imperial Palace gardens, provide peaceful retreats amidst the urban landscape. Food lovers can enjoy everything from Michelin-starred dining to street food, including sushi, ramen, and izakaya delights. With its efficient transportation system, unique attractions, and ever-changing skyline, Tokyo is a city that constantly surprises and captivates visitors from all over the world. Here are some of the photos I captured during my visits. Enjoy your virtual tour!

  • Tournedos Rossini

Tournedos Rossini from Ore-no French & Italian in Aoyama—a decadent tower of tender beef, foie gras, and rich sauce, perfectly executed. Fine dining flair without the wallet shock, served up in the stylish heart of Tokyo. A treat for the taste buds and the soul.

    Cloudy Tokyo

A moody view of Tokyo from my favorite observation spot at the Bunkyo Civic Center. The city stretches endlessly under a blanket of clouds, with skyscrapers rising like silhouettes. Even on a gray day, the contrast of urban sprawl and distant hills makes this view unforgettable.

    Baikinman

Put my daughter’s Baikinman toy to good use while setting up my tripod, flash, and umbrella. It made the perfect stand-in subject for tweaking the lighting and angles. A fun and oddly effective way to test the setup before the real shots!

    Hunting Pokemons

A now-ubiquitous sight in Tokyo: people of all ages—boys, girls, men, and women—wandering the streets, phones in hand, intently hunting Pokémon. Parks, stations, and even quiet alleys have become hotspots, turning the city into one giant interactive game board. It’s both amusing and surreal to see the craze blend so seamlessly into daily life.

  • Tokyo Skies

A few days ago, Tokyo’s sky put on a spectacular show with some amazing clouds. Big, dramatic formations rolled across the skyline, their shapes and textures catching the light in the most stunning way. A perfect moment for the camera to capture nature’s art above the urban sprawl.

  • Fée Délice

Enjoyed some good crêpes in Harajuku at Fée Délice—light, flavorful, and satisfying as always. The ambiance adds to the experience, but the cider? Delicious, yet predictably overpriced. Still, it’s a nice treat in the middle of Tokyo’s bustling streets.

    Matsuri Faces

Took the GX85 out for a spin at night, and it handled pretty well! The face AF tracking was impressively reliable, even in low light. Shooting straight JPEGs, the results were solid with manageable noise up to ISO 3000—beyond that, the denoise algorithm softens things too much. For a micro 4/3, though, it’s not bad…

  • Shibuya Shoot

In the middle of a scorching summer day, the scene at Shibuya Crossing was alive with motion. The girls, laughing and carefree, stood out even more in the blazing sunlight, their energy undeterred by the heat. The maid outfit added a whimsical touch to the vibrant chaos, creating a playful contrast against the urban intensity…

  • Shibuya Summer

Tokyo summers are relentless—sweltering heat, high humidity, and that sticky feeling as soon as you step outside. I honestly don’t know anyone who enjoys it. The city buzzes on, but you can feel everyone just trying to survive until the cooler autumn air finally rolls in.
