A 50mm lens wide open truly has a magic touch! The shallow depth of field and creamy bokeh transform everyday scenes into cinematic works of art. It isolates the subject beautifully, making even the simplest objects or moments look extraordinary. It’s the lens that makes the mundane mesmerizing! 📸✨

The Starbucks in Kawagoe is a perfect blend of modern coffee culture and traditional Japanese aesthetics. Set in a beautifully preserved old Japanese house, it retains its historic charm with wooden beams, tatami-inspired design elements, and a tranquil ambiance. Sipping coffee in such a unique setting makes it much more than just a coffee break—it’s…

  • Tokyo Midtown

My second attempt at making a 4K HDR video. This time I did not mess up the color space when recording and I read the white paper on HDR and Wide Color Gamut in Final Cut Pro [link] from Apple. This should improve the end results. At least on my HDR display it does! Hope…

  • Shibuya Crossing

I wanted to try shooting HDR videos for sometime but 4K was just too heavy to handle for my old iMac. Since it recently died (after 8 years of heavy daily use – rest in peace my friend), its replacement (M1 processor and HDR display) gave me an opportunity to give it a shot. So…

  • Removing Asphalt

Watching Japanese construction workers remove the asphalt layer from a road is oddly mesmerizing. The precise coordination, efficient use of machinery, and the rhythmic process of breaking and lifting the old surface create a satisfying spectacle. The combination of professionalism and attention to detail is impressive, especially in the bustling streets of Tokyo—right in front…

An old, largely unused bicycle parking lot, its metal frames rusting and weathered by time, tells a quiet story of change and neglect. The faded paint and patches of moss creeping over the concrete add character, while the empty stalls evoke a sense of nostalgia for busier days. It’s a scene where nature begins to…
