Shimbashi

Shimbashi, located near central Tokyo, is a bustling business district known for its lively atmosphere and strong connection to Tokyo’s salaryman culture. Often referred to as the “salaryman’s playground,” Shimbashi comes alive after work hours with countless izakayas, ramen shops, and standing bars where workers gather to relax over drinks and food. Its streets are filled with a nostalgic charm, blending modern office buildings with small eateries and neon-lit alleyways. Shimbashi is also a transportation hub, offering easy access to key areas of Tokyo and nearby attractions like Hamarikyu Gardens, a serene traditional Japanese garden just a short walk away. With its down-to-earth vibe, affordable dining, and authentic local energy, Shimbashi provides a glimpse into Tokyo’s working-class culture and the vibrant life of its evening crowd. Here are some of the photos I captured during my visits. Enjoy your virtual tour!

Green Curry

Green curry season is back at your favorite Shimbashi spot—always a good reason to celebrate! It’s fun to compare how the remodeling has changed the vibe. The new look might feel fresher, and the uniforms probably tie into that updated theme. That said, nothing beats a bowl of green curry that stays consistently delicious, regardless…
