Onsen

Onsen, the Japanese term for hot springs, are a cherished part of Japanese culture, offering relaxation, natural beauty, and therapeutic benefits. Found throughout Japan in scenic locations like mountains, coastal areas, and quiet countryside towns, onsens are rich in minerals believed to soothe muscles, improve circulation, and promote well-being. Traditional inns, known as *ryokan*, often feature indoor and outdoor baths, including *rotenburo*, which allow visitors to soak while enjoying stunning views of nature. Popular onsen destinations such as Hakone, Beppu, Kusatsu, and Noboribetsu each offer unique waters and atmospheres, ranging from rustic to luxurious. Whether surrounded by snowy landscapes in winter or lush greenery in summer, visiting an onsen is a timeless experience that combines relaxation and a deeper connection to Japanese tradition. Here are some of the photos I captured during my visits. Enjoy your virtual tour!
