Nanjing

Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China, is a city steeped in history, culture, and natural beauty. As one of China’s Four Great Ancient Capitals, Nanjing played a central role in the country’s history, serving as the seat of power for several dynasties. Visitors can explore historical landmarks such as the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, dedicated to the founding father of modern China, and the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, a UNESCO World Heritage site surrounded by peaceful forests and ancient stone sculptures. The city is also home to the Nanjing City Wall, one of the best-preserved ancient walls in the world, offering stunning views of the city. Alongside its historical significance, Nanjing features vibrant areas like the Qinhuai River, lined with traditional architecture, shops, and restaurants, perfect for evening strolls. Modern developments, museums, and lush parks like Xuanwu Lake add to Nanjing’s appeal, blending the charm of the past with the energy of a contemporary city. Here are some of the photos I captured during my visits. Enjoy your virtual tour!

While all the signage around the station is bilingual, with English translations thoughtfully included, the ticketing system seems stuck in a monolingual bubble. The ticket counters, displays, and…

Chinese Taxi

Hopping into a taxi in China is always… an adventure. The “pleasant” aroma of air fresheners battling other, less identifiable scents sets the tone. And the driving? Let’s just say it’s not for the faint-hearted—lanes are suggestions, horns are conversational tools, and speed limits seem optional. It’s a ride that keeps you alert, with a…
