Cour Marly
The Cour Marly in the Musée du Louvre is a breathtaking space where art and light come together in perfect harmony. Nestled under a glass ceiling that floods the courtyard with natural light, this airy gallery showcases an impressive collection of marble sculptures. It feels like stepping into an elegant garden frozen in time.
The statues, ranging from dynamic depictions of mythological scenes to regal figures of nobility, are arranged thoughtfully among the greenery and terraces. The contrast of white marble against the soft, muted tones of the courtyard creates a tranquil yet majestic atmosphere. The energy in works like Mercury Riding Pegasus and the repose of Neptune offer a fascinating dialogue of motion and stillness.
Of all the incredible spaces in the Louvre, the Cour Marly is one of my favourite spots. The openness of the space, combined with the artistry of the sculptures, made it a perfect place to pause and absorb the beauty around me. It’s a corner of the Louvre that feels alive, where history and artistry breathe together in a setting that is both serene and inspiring.
