Shinjuku Station HDR
I’m not usually a fan of HDR, but I wanted to show what the X-T2’s sensor can do with just one shot. The dynamic range is impressive—it lets you lift the shadows without introducing much noise, something I couldn’t achieve as easily with my old 5D Mark III. It’s great to have that extra flexibility for post-processing without needing to bracket exposures!
Shinjuku JR Station is a massive and bustling transportation hub located in the heart of Tokyo. Known as the busiest railway station in the world, it serves millions of commuters daily. The station is a maze of platforms, ticket gates, and passageways, connecting over 10 different train and subway lines, including the JR Yamanote Line, Chuo Line, and Shonan-Shinjuku Line.
Outside the station, Shinjuku is divided into distinct districts: the business-oriented West Exit, home to skyscrapers like the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building; the shopping-centric South Exit, with Takashimaya Times Square and NEWoMan mall; and the vibrant East Exit, leading to Kabukicho, Shinjuku’s famous nightlife district.
Navigating the station can be overwhelming, with its numerous exits, underground corridors, and bustling crowds. However, it’s well-signed in English and Japanese, making it manageable for visitors. Shinjuku JR Station isn’t just a transit point; it’s an experience of Tokyo’s dynamic energy, whether you’re passing through or exploring the area around it.
