Iidabashi Station
Taking my 16-35mm lens out for a walk always feels like reconnecting with an old friend. This lens, my very first L-series, has been with me for nearly a decade now. Despite its years, it still delivers stunning results, proving that great gear, when cared for, can stand the test of time.
The versatility of the 16-35mm is part of what makes it so special. From sweeping landscapes to tight, dramatic compositions in urban environments, it handles everything with sharpness and precision. On this outing, I focused on the wide-end of the lens, capturing expansive scenes that emphasized depth and scale. Whether it was towering buildings dwarfing the street below, reflections in a puddle, or the sprawling colors of a sunset, the lens transformed everyday views into something extraordinary.
Beyond the technical aspects, there’s something deeply sentimental about using this lens. It’s been with me through so many photographic journeys—new cities, countless memories, and experiments that shaped how I see the world. Every click of the shutter reminds me why it became my first L-series investment. A decade later, this lens is more than just a tool; it’s a part of my story, proving that quality and care can keep even a seasoned piece of gear as relevant and inspiring as the day I first held it.
