Shibuya

Shibuya, located in central Tokyo, is a bustling and dynamic district known for its youthful energy, trendsetting fashion, and iconic landmarks. At the heart of Shibuya lies the world-famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing, where thousands of people cross simultaneously, symbolizing the city’s vibrant pace. The area is a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment, with towering department stores, trendy boutiques, and lively streets like Center Gai and Spain-zaka offering the latest in fashion and pop culture. Shibuya is also home to the beloved Hachiko Statue, a tribute to the loyal dog and a popular meeting spot. At night, the district comes alive with neon lights, bustling izakayas, and music venues, reflecting its role as a center for Tokyo’s nightlife. With its energetic atmosphere and endless options for shopping, food, and entertainment, Shibuya captures the pulse of modern Tokyo. Here are some of the photos I captured during my visits. The tones are rich and vibrant without feeling overdone, and the lens’s rendering at wide aperture adds that magical, buttery quality. A joy to work with every…

Took the Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 out for another spin, keeping it wide open at f/1.2 in daylight thanks to an ND4 filter. This time, I focused on moving subjects in the lively streets of Shibuya. The shallow depth of field was incredible for isolating individuals in the chaos, especially the last person crossing—it’s where the…
