Hesburger
Familiar logo in Helsinki : the red H of Hesburger. Hesburger is a prominent Finnish fast-food chain specializing in hamburgers and related fare. Founded in 1980 by Heikki Salmela in Turku, Finland, it has grown into the largest hamburger restaurant chain in Finland and the Baltic states, surpassing even global competitors like McDonald’s in these regions.
The menu features a variety of items, including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, salads, and desserts. A signature offering is the “Mega Burger,” which includes two beef patties, cheddar cheese, pickles, tomato, and iceberg lettuce, complemented by Hesburger’s unique cucumber and paprika mayonnaises. Another popular item is the “Giant Bacon Burger,” featuring two large beef patties, bacon, mustard, fresh onion, cheddar cheese, tomato, crispy lettuce, and the same distinctive mayonnaises.
Hesburger has expanded beyond Finland into several countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Bulgaria, and Ukraine. In 2024, the company entered the Polish market by opening a delivery-only restaurant in Warsaw and expanded into Romania with a restaurant in Râmnicu Vâlcea.
The chain is known for its distinctive mayonnaises, particularly the cucumber mayonnaise, which adds a unique flavor to its products. Hesburger also operates Hesecafes, offering pastries and specialty coffees, and some locations provide additional services like car washes!
