Tokyo, Japan’s bustling capital, is a vibrant metropolis where tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. The city offers everything from futuristic skyscrapers and neon-lit districts to serene temples and historic neighborhoods. Shibuya and Shinjuku pulse with energy, featuring world-famous landmarks like the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and bustling entertainment hubs, while districts like Asakusa preserve Tokyo’s cultural roots with Senso-ji Temple, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple. Akihabara is a paradise for tech enthusiasts and anime fans, while Harajuku and Omotesando showcase cutting-edge fashion and design. Tokyo’s green spaces, such as Ueno Park and the Imperial Palace gardens, provide peaceful retreats amidst the urban landscape. Red Bicycle

Red Bicycle

Using the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II at the front and the Fuji X-H1 at the back, I captured a red bicycle glowing under the streetlights in Kagurazaka at night. The APS-C sensor with IBIS, combined with this ultra-fast manual lens, really is a dream setup. The shallow depth of field and creamy…

With the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II at the front and the Fuji X-H1 at the back, I captured the old rooftops glowing softly at night in Kagurazaka. The APS-C sensor, paired with IBIS and this ultra-fast manual lens, feels like the perfect combo. The stabilization makes low-light handheld shots a breeze, and…

Weirdo

Weirdo

Spotted something strange near the south exit of Shinjuku Station—a guy was, well, humping his bag in plain sight. Definitely not your typical Tokyo moment! Let’s just say the city never fails to surprise with its share of oddities.

Platforms

Train platform: the place where a working day typically begins in Tokyo. Commuters line up in neat rows, coffee in hand, as the rhythm of the city kicks into gear. It’s a scene of order, routine, and quiet anticipation before the rush of the day unfolds.

Gastro Bar

Gastro Bar

Gastrobar… as in gastroenteritis?! 😂 Not exactly the most appetizing association, but I guess they’re aiming for “gastronomy meets bar” vibes. Still, they might want to rethink that branding—doesn’t quite roll off the tongue for a place serving fancy food and drinks!

Old Shops

Old Shops

I know I’m repeating myself, but in 10–20 years, Tokyo—and Japan as a whole—will look very different with so many small, traditional shops disappearing. These places are more than just businesses; they’re part of the city’s character and history. It’s bittersweet to think about how modernization and changing lifestyles might reshape the streets we know…

Late Breakfast

Late Breakfast

Had to skip breakfast at home this morning because of the yearly (and mandatory) health check. After all that radioactive yogurt and tests, I was starving! Definitely looking forward to making up for it with a proper meal now.

Kimono Roboto

Kimono Roboto

Caught a nice expo in the basement of Omotesando Hills in Tokyo: Kimono Roboto. A fascinating mix of tradition and technology, showcasing the elegance of kimonos with a futuristic twist. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in the fusion of classic Japanese culture and modern innovation!

Park Time

Park Time

Braving the cold winds on a Sunday afternoon with the Biogon. Despite the chill, the lens performed beautifully, capturing the crisp winter light and moody tones. Sometimes, the toughest conditions lead to the most rewarding shots!

Christmas Mood

Christmas Mood

The festive lighting at Omotesando Hills for Christmas is nothing short of spectacular. The elegant displays and twinkling lights create a warm and inviting atmosphere, blending modern style with holiday cheer. It’s a perfect spot to soak in the Christmas spirit while enjoying the chic vibe of Omotesando. For reference, the same scene but in…

Japanese Couple

A young Japanese couple posing at Happoen for their wedding photos—such a beautiful and serene scene. The bride’s elegant kimono and the groom’s formal attire perfectly complement the traditional garden setting. It’s moments like these that highlight the timeless beauty of Japanese culture and the joy of new beginnings.

Autumn Colors

Autumn Colors

Tokyo is glowing with beautiful reds and oranges this time of year. The autumn foliage transforms parks and streets into vibrant landscapes, making even the busiest areas feel a bit more peaceful. It’s the perfect season to take a stroll and soak in the colors before winter sets in. 🍁🍂✨

Lost Tourist

Spotted a lost tourist in Shinjuku Station on a cold Tokyo morning. With maps in hand and a puzzled look, they stood out amidst the rush of commuters. Shinjuku’s labyrinth of exits and platforms is a challenge even for locals, but on a chilly morning, it adds an extra layer to the adventure!

Night Walk

Night Walk

Testing the 56mm APD on a rainy night was a treat for the bokeh and atmosphere, but I couldn’t help wishing it was WR (Weather Resistant). Handling a non-WR lens in wet conditions is always a bit nerve-wracking, but the results made it worth it. Here’s hoping Fuji gives us an updated, weather-sealed version someday!

Tokyo Sunset

Tokyo Sunset

The sun gently sets behind the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku, casting a warm glow over the city. The iconic silhouette of the twin towers against the evening sky makes for a serene and beautiful scene, marking the end of another bustling day in Tokyo.

Light Tunnel

Light Tunnel

The beautiful lights in Korakuen for the end of the year are truly magical. The garden transforms into a glowing wonderland, with illuminated trees, pathways, and reflections on the water creating a serene and festive atmosphere. A perfect spot to enjoy Tokyo’s winter charm! ✨🎄

Gimme Money

Gimme Money

Ever since the news about disguised Chinese guys posing as Japanese monks to scam money from donors, I can’t help but wonder: is this guy fake too? It’s a thought that crosses my mind every time I see a monk collecting donations now. The whole situation has made something so culturally iconic feel suspicious, which…
