Ishigaki, a serene gem in Japan’s Yaeyama Islands, offers a blend of natural beauty and quiet charm. Inland, lush jungles and rolling hills are dotted with sugarcane fields, while the iconic Mount Omoto rises gracefully in the background. Small fishing boats bob gently in the harbours, and the island’s peaceful villages invite slow exploration. Local markets buzz with the scent of tropical fruits and freshly grilled Ishigaki beef, while traditional Okinawan music drifts from cosy izakayas.
