Hakodate

Hakodate, located on the southern tip of Hokkaido, is a charming port city known for its scenic views, rich history, and fresh seafood. One of its highlights is the breathtaking night view from Mount Hakodate, often considered one of the most beautiful in the world, offering sweeping vistas of the city’s unique hourglass shape. The historic district of Motomachi features European-style buildings and churches, reflecting the city’s role as one of Japan’s first ports to open to foreign trade. The nearby Hakodate Morning Market is a must-visit, where visitors can enjoy freshly caught seafood like crab, sea urchin, and squid. Goryokaku, a star-shaped fortress turned park, is especially beautiful in spring when the cherry blossoms bloom. With its blend of history, natural beauty, and culinary delights, Hakodate is a perfect destination for travelers seeking a unique and relaxing experience in Hokkaido.
